Dr. Unal is passionate about achieving the most natural and beautiful results for every individual by meticulous attention to detail, extraordinary care, and safety. Dr. Unal was raised in a family of surgeons, and was inspired to pursue a career in Plastic Surgery when she completed Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty. Her finishing thesis as a Plastic Surgeon won a “first prize” and a “runner up” at two different congresses.  When she was a medical student, and during her residency in plastic surgery, she did her surgery rotations in St’ Thomas’ Hospital and Sheffield Teaching Hospital, U.K.

After she became a board certified plastic surgeon, she also applied for European Board Examinations which she passed successfully and became European board certified. Dr Cigdem Unal pursued her career in academics and became and associate professor of Plastic Surgery. She completed her fellowship in “breast reconstructive & aesthetic surgery” at Ghent University. She worked at Acibadem Hospitals group as an associate professor of plastic surgery for 4 years, and currently is working part time at the same group as well as her own office.

Dr Cigdem Unal is an active member of The Turkish Society of Plastic Surgeons and Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. She is an international  member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. She has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in plastic surgery, and has numerous lectures and presentations in plastic surgery at the national and international level to her credit.
